Till Death Do Us?

By Vincent Triveri

Sacred matrimony

Our destined wish

To remain together

Until death do us part

How long has it been?

I’ve forgotten just how much

It almost feels like a blip

A single blink of the eye

How a singular blink– lasts for ages

Isn’t it wonderful?

It is. And yet it felt like there was time lost

We didn’t get to do everything together

Are you disappointed?

How can I be?

There we so many experiences we missed out on

Maybe. But life is fickle

I tried to do what you couldn’t

You didn’t need to dear

But I wanted to fulfill our wish

That’s why I came to love you so

What the minister proclaimed during the ceremony

“Til’ death do us part?”

I don’t understand it now

I feel I know why

Because you’re laying next to me

Just like every night?

Just like every night

Together
